Wii U Pro Controllers are really comfortable too, so I just like them all around, but if you don't have one the price of the controller is kinda steep ($40-50, with black ones bizarrely costing more than white ones sometimes). Im using a third party adapter from MIMD and also third party GameCube controllers. So yeah, if you are still having issues or if somebody else curious to know the answer to your question is reading this, for only $12 a Wii U Pro Controller is super easy to set up with Oblivion and works great. What you desire is currently not possible. You need to use a regular Wii for 8 player support. I suppose the other cool thing about using the Wii U Pro Controller with MayFlash's adapter is that you can also set the adapter to read your Pro Controller as if it were a 360 controller, so you can still use it for controller-enabled games that only support 360 controllers. JoyToKey maps the controller buttons to keys on the keyboard and the mouse, so I suppose technically Oblivion thinks I'm using a keyboard and mouse, but it works seamlessly and if I ever want greater accuracy when aiming I can easily just set the controller down and use my mouse without hassle. I'm using a MayFlash Wii U Pro Controller adapter (about $12) together with JoyToKey (free, I believe), and have zero trouble. Obviously, it's fully compatible with the Wii U. With that same adapter ( ), you can connect up to 4 controllers at once via Direct Input. If you don't want to go through all that trouble and have a Wii U Pro Controller available, my Wii U Pro Controller works perfectly with Oblivion. With an additional 20 adapter, you can use it on all 360 gamepad-supported (Xinput) PC games and is almost fully compatibility on the PS3 (see 'Cons').
